Make-Up!

Like every fashion style it has a type of make-up involved! It is pretty obvious what the make-up style would be though, black eyeliner. It is the most important make-up utensil in soft grunge. It doesn't have to go on perfectly either. The whole idea of grunge is to look edgy and messy. After you apply it on the lower eye all you have to do is smear it! Or you could just go to bed with make-up on, that is totally up to you!
This is only one type of soft grunge make-up style! There is one more! The next you will be seeing is more of a natural look. Soft grunge doesn't always mean TONS of make-up! So if you are totally into this style but you are not sure if you are up to the whole layered look of eyeliners and eye shadows then this one is for you!

Grunge Is Art

Most people think of soft grunge and directly go to fashion and culture! Well I am here to tell you it is not just all fashion, art is a big part in this fad also! Also when I say art it does not necessarily just mean drawings and paintings. This could also mean photo edits or even photography. Here is an example of a definition edited in a photo.
Another example of soft grunge art is actual art. Someone made an "alternative Princess Ariel".
Most soft grunge colors revolve around light, bright, pastel colors. Since it is called "soft grunge".

A lot of digital photos are also in this type of art. The one shown above is a good example. Here is another to look at too! This one is an edit from one of the Power Puff Girls, Bubbles! I think this one is super cute! I especially love the hologram background!

Craft Making Tips To Save Money

We all know fashion isn't cheap so why not make your own accessories?! You could make your own clothes but that takes a bit more effort, money, and skill. I'm going to tell and show you how to make a "flower crown". One of the most popular accessories in the fashion soft grunge. Flower crowns online can cost up to $20 to $40 also. It is outrageous how much these can cost! So by making your own you can save a lot of money. I usually get my flowers at the dollar tree; for obvious reasons. You can also get the clothed wire and tape for $1.99 each at Joann's. I'm sure you could find a wire tool somewhere in your garage too.
THINGS YOU WILL NEED:

  • Two 12 inch clothed wire (any color)
  • Floral tape (any color)
  • Any type of flowers you would like
  • And a pair of any type of wire cutters

STEPS:

  • First, measure your head by combining the two wires around your head. After measuring, weave the two wires together until right size.
  • Second, Using the wire tool/cutter start cutting the flower stems apart, but keep the stems about 2 inches long.
  • Third, choose a flower to start with and tear a piece of floral tape and wrap around the flower stem and wire. Don't worry about messing the tape up because the tape stretches during the process. You just keep repeating that process until the crown is full of flowers! Enjoy!

The great thing about this is that you don't have to mess with glue and the mess it brings! This craft is also great for any style and age and doesn't take a long time to do! Below is a better tutorial, I did it on YouTube to give you all a better visual on how the process goes.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9e9hX4QJt4

Learn How To Accessorize

In today's blog I will be talking about how to accessorize! The soft grunge way! This type of fashion usually doesn't cost much because you can always thrift for cool vintage items and even clothing and add a little pzazz to it!
Hippie glasses are pretty popular in this style!
It is also important to add neck jewelry!
There is hardly an expense to becoming great with accessories! Oh! And did I mention?! Shoes are a big part of this! Shoes are everything. No matter spiky or not. Platforms or high tops. It is all up to you!
Soft grunge is a little bit of everything! It's not just about American in the 90's. soft grunge also carries in the streets of Japan! Bet you didn't know that? Now did you! The style is pretty similar but a lot more colorful. The accessories are basically the same too.

Flower crowns are also a big part of this fashion trend!

It's All In The Hair

Now I know what you're thinking; "what does a certain type of hair have to do with the style?". It has everything to do with it! Long, short, thick, or thin. It doesn't matter. It's all about image and products you use to style your hair to be "grungefied". Now lets talk about some soft grunge hair styles.

For example if you want some measurement; all you need is a good teasing comb and hair spray! Simple as that.

You can go for a more simple look also. Long curly hair is very grunge and easy to do! Also adding some color to your hair is very popular in this style. Sometimes just even rocking the "natural" look is so soft grunge! It doesn't take much. So if you're one of those people who are lazy about your appearance, you could totally do this easy and fun look! Soft grunge isn't just for girls either guys!
Can I just say Miley is a perfect example of soft grunge. Just look what a little hair spray and teasing can do!

The Beginnings of Soft Grunge

We all know where soft grunge comes from, right? I hope so anyway... The 90's!! Soft Grunge is very similar to "grunge". Yes, there is a difference. The difference between them is that soft grunge is a little bit more colorful. This is one of my favorite types of fashion. I guess you could say I love anything colorful and retro. Music had a huge influence on this fashion style. For example, 90's music!!! Bet you would of never guessed that!.. Most bands like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Stone Temple Pilots started the whole grunge look. It sure did succeed in style considering grunge is still here in 2014 and becoming more and more popular in soft grunge. I think grunge and soft grunge will continue for generations. I feel this is a fashion statement for the dreamers. That may sound weird... and different, but doesn't fashion describe ourselves? Show our personalities? For example; someone who wears a maxi dress and wedges, you could guess they're outgoing? Or really girly. That's how I see it. Fashion is about bringing out the real you and showing it to the world.
